It looks like Graham Potter will not be judged on Chelsea’s final place in the table this season 👀
Graham Potter will not be judged on Chelsea’s final place in the table this season, and will be given plenty of leeway by the board as they look to build for the future.
A stinking run of form has made it feel very clearly like Potter is at risk of losing the job he only got in September, but the endless injuries that have prevented him from ever being able to use his best XI – or even the same XI twice – are being considered crucial by the board, according to the piece in the Telegraph today from Matt Law.
He says all these mitigating circumstances will be taken into account, and that even missing out on the Champions League places (looking almost certain now as we drift a full 10 points behind the charging top 4) won’t cost him his job.
We would imagine they won’t be so lenient next time – this project can barely afford one year outside of the top 4, let alone two.
